On June 26, 1971, Paul Pittinger and and his wife Wendy were spotted by Jackie Archer as she and Mark Gravengood were flying to Catalina Island in Rocinante (aircraft). Using the aircraft radio Mark called the Coast Guard, and they orbited the boat for over an hour until the Coast Guard arraved and they were rescued.ROC22
