Summary
Jerry is airlifted out by a MedEvac (medical evacuation) helicopter. Al passes some Johnny Walker around to help calm everyone down.
When asked, Randy tells Crystal how he ended up becoming an EMT. Crystal and Al discuss what to do about being short a boatman, and decide that the only way is to rearrange things to make one raft a passenger-less gear boat, and give it to Randy to row.
Al decides to ring up Michelle and get her to organize a satellite telephone for each team so that they can call out in an emergency no matter where they are.
They run down the river, with each boatman taking turns riding with Randy when it came to the difficult rapids. They stop at a little beach that only Al has any real knowledge about. Most decide to go for a hike up the side canyon, though Crystal, Al and Karin don't go.
Scooter and Dallas hike up a side canyon and have a long private talk about his late wife, and that they had not managed to go adventuring when they had the chance. (compare Chapter 69 and Chapter 70 of Dawnwalker ).
