Ike was a cousin of Cordy Sims, the son of her Aunt Mildred.

He was out of prison on a work release scheme the summer Rag Doll was on the hard at Sims Boat Yard. He broke into the Rag Doll but there wasn't anything to steal and he didn't cause any damage. After breaking the terms of his release he was back in prison when Amanda Lewis returned to Florida for the winter^RD27 and the prospect of him getting early release hastened Amanda taking Rag Doll out of Sims Boat Yard and mooring at a nearby marina.^RD29

Mildred pushed Sid Sims to employ Ike, against Cordy's protests. Ike seemed to be planning to rape Cordy so she left in a hurry.^RD31
