Greg Mears was the president of the Camden Dogsled Association and after hearing about the first Warsaw Run invited the Spearfish Lake dogsledders to the State Championships in Februrary 1988.

In 1990, he negotiates with the American Sled Dog Association to get the Warsaw Run properly sanctioned.

Greg is very proud of his team of purebred Siberian Huskies. When one of them produced puppies that weren't purebred, he gave Boxcar and Sidetrack to Josh Archer. He did manage third place in the Sixth Annual Warsaw Run in 1993.

When Tiffany Archer and Phil Wine ran the Iditarod in March 2000, Greg was part of the crowd that celebrated with Josh.^FtS9

Greg is married to Vicky and his niece is Brenda Hodunk. He used his friendship with Mike McMahon to recommend Brenda for the job at Spearfish Lake Record-Herald. Brenda is able to congratulate her Uncle Greg when he wins the Warsaw Run in 1998. Greg is described as about Mark and Mike's age, a little shorter and solider than either of them came over from the van, where there were three Siberian huskies tied on a picket line between the van and the trailer. He had a head full of black hair and a big black beard, both shot with gray.^BAR7126
