Christine MacRae was Jason MacRae's second wife. By the time Jason's divorce from Jody MacRae in 1980, he was already spending time with Christine. That Jason needed a new wife to help take care of his young son was part of why they got married. As Jason once said, "She knew what she was getting into"HS15 marrying Jason. She did not have any children of her own and when Duane MacRae referred to his mother, it was understood he meant Christine.
Christine was described as "small, thin to the point of being emaciated, quiet, and rather shy."HS2 Christine wasn't diagnosed with leukemia until several years after their marriage. "Christine was never well, at least never while I knew her," Jason once told Vicky Varney "That didn't keep her from being a warm and loving person who I cared for deeply."HS22
"The open house for Vicky's high school graduation was one of the last times she'd seen Christine out and about on her own two feet; she was permanently in a wheelchair soon after that, and in a nursing home not much later."HS2
