Summary
Steve is trying to reconstruct what Henry Toivo would have done, based on their knowledge of navigating by stars.
Steve thinks he's alone, but Gil rushes back to the camp, tells the others what is going on, puts on a dark shirt, picks up supplies, including the GPS, a starlight scope (night vision), and a walkie-talkie.
He then goes back out to tail Steve to ensure nothing bad happens.
Gil follows Steve for several hours, checking in by walkie-talkie every so often.
