Steve Augsberg returned to Spearfish Lake as a Vietnam Vet in 1972. He initially finds it difficult to adapt to civilian life, but the group of Vietnam Veterans and especially Ryan Clark help him out.^AF3

In The West Turtle Lake Club Steve was reported as graduating high school in 1972 and returning from Vietnam in August 1975^WTLC7 in contrast with all POWs being returned from Vietnam by March 1973.^{WTLC24 AF6}

He becomes production manager of Clark Plywood after having graduated from Weatherford College.^AF11

He is married to Binh Ky "Binky" and they have one son Hunter, born about 1983 and a daughter Tabitha, born about 1985.

In August 2010 he helped the fire department load trucks onto railroad flatcars using the Clark Plywood loading dock so they could fight the Birdwatcher Hill Fire from the tracks.^{BHF24 BHF25}
