"Way back when she was born, it had employed five full-time and two part-time employees; now it was reduced to Weber, a teacher at the school who did the sports reports on a per-story basis, and Weber's bookkeeper, ad saleswoman and whatnot, Hazel Perkins." Homestanders Chapter 11 (Emphasis mine)
It reads like he was a teacher and part-timer in about 1970 (When Emily was born) and transitioned over the thirty years since. Obviously few remember him as a teacher. -Dang Fool 13:39, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- That was the sentence that made me think Weber was a teacher (I was trying to edit this page at the same time as Dang Fool!). But now that I read it, it may well have referred to another contributor to the Courier.--Samuelmichaels 13:45, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- Of course! Three people makes much more sense! Weber, the teacher and Hazel. I was just searching through the stories and gathering pieces without carefully reading. I was surprised to discover the teacher reference. Searching for Courier references was more complicated by hits on the Courier New font. -Dang Fool 13:52, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
Right -- the part time sports reporter was a teacher at the school.--Wes 16:32, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
