Pat Berlin was a Spearfish Lake resident, a veteran of "D" Battery.

He was a Deputy Sheriff in 1954 when Sheriff Anthony Herman attempted to raid the West Turtle Lake Club. Following Herman's failure to get a warrant for the raid and having to leave the county, Pat was appointed to fill out the term and was subsequently elected sherrif. He held the job until he retired.^WTLC32

Allowing for discrepancies between The West Turtle Lake Club and other stories, this is possibly the same person as Pat Burling, who had been in D Battery and was a deputy at the time of the 1955 polio outbreak.^FK15
