Larry Newman is a boatman with Canyon Tours, including working Al Buck's wedding trip in May, 2001.

Larry had been a swamper with Al two years before and had run gearboats with Dave and Mary Wells the next year, but 2001 was the first summer with a passenger-carrying raft of his own. Unlike other boatmen with Canyon Tours, he is a student at Arizona State, studying Architecture and building engineering. The fall of 2001 will be his senior year and he was thinking of becoming a building inspector, much to Randy Clark's disgust.^CF20

Larry was one of the boatman that would lead hikes in side canyons, including one at Havasu Creek, although not at far up that trail as Crystal Chladek and Nicole Clark. It was Larry's job to ensure as many came back as had left, and all of them uninjured.^CF24

Larry has never tried running the bubble line at Lava Rapids.^CF26
