John Adorney was a couple of months younger than Dewey Blodgett. John ran the wash rack in the service department at Herb Kralick Ford and had driven jalopies at Flat Rock a couple of seasons.

Herb Kralick recommended John when MMSA was short a driver for fair season 1952, and after tryouts at Flat Rock, MI and Mt. Clemens, MI he was given the 2 car to drive.BR1-23

He ceded the 2 car to Arlene Pewabic and drove 77BR1-30 until he got his draft papers and left in 1953. He won his last race at Wausau, WI and picked up the track queen, a nice Scandinavian-looking girl for the night. His time in the army was spent in Hawaii.BR1-31

He wrote back and forth with the girl he'd spent the night with in Wausau and just before his time in the army was up bought her an air ticket to Hawaii and proposed to her on Waikiki beach. They married after he got out of the army, had three kids and were still married in June 1964BR2-16

He continued racing and had even tried the Indianapolis 500 one time in an independent entry, but hadn’t made the field. At age 81 in 2003 he was racing Pony Stocks at Bradford SpeedwayBR4-13 every two or three weeks. He still had the skills to put Matt d’Lamater's car in the wall after Matt had bumped him out of the way.BR4-23
