Don Kimball was a reporter for the Hawthorne Reporter newspaper. He was in the newsroom and heard Cody Archer's radio calll about the shooting at Southern Michigan University. He posted a news flash on the wire service before going to the scene.SLH28
He was the first reporter on the scene and got an early account of what had happend from Alan Jahnke. When he called it in he spoke to the editor, Bob Phillips.
He was still the only reporter there when Chief Bascomb led the police officers into the building. He got more of the story from Logan McBride on his way to an ambulance.SLH29
