Summary

Adam took Beverly for a day's sailing, though she was about an hour later arriving than agreed. He learned that she was centred on her career and wouldn't think of leaving it for more that a week or two of vacation. She was also more of a passenger than a sailor, though would be fun to sail with again. Beverly's ambitions were too far from Adam's for him to think of anything more.

At Caldwell-Deerfield Adam found that Bob had done a good proposal for Ford, reinforcing Adam's idea that he could leave the company in Bob's hands at times.

Adam called Brittany "to check in", and she had been planning to call him with some news. She reported that the medication Dr Preble had her on were helping a lot and she apologized for being "awful hyper back toward the end of when we were together". Her news was that she was selling the house and moving back to Wychbold to be near her parents. She was much more reasonable talking about Matthew Junior though didn't mention mary until she had to respond to comments from Adam.

That weekend he again took Carolyn sailing, planning to stay out overnight. They headed towards Put-In-Bay but the light winds prevented them getting that far. They stopped for the night behind West Sister Island. When they decided to turn in Carolyn simply removed her bikini and said "I'd just as soon not spend the night in a bunk by myself".
