Summary
Mel Austin was surprised to see Bert Mansfield with a legal stock engine in his car the second week he was in charge of the Junior Stock racing. Bert won the season championship from the points he'd accrued with his cheater car.
Mel bought a trophy for the “Bradford Speedway 1962 Second Season Champion” to reflect the racing after he'd taken charge. This was won by Don Boies with Bob Totten only a few points behind.
Smoky told Mel he was very pleased with the result and asked Mel to take charge again next year.
