Glenn Mansfield ran a big dairy farm out south of Bradford.
He had two sons, John and Bert.
Glenn got upset when the high school football coach Ed Snyder benched John, then a senior, in favor of a sophomore as starting quarterback. He tried to bully the coach, Alex Groves the principal and Mike Corrigan the superintendent without changing anything. John didn't play at all that season.BR2-7
Glenn spent a lot of time and money setting up a Junior Stock car for Bert to drive at Bradford Speedway. His minor concessions to the rules were the body, chasis and safety requirements.
When Mel Austin enforced the rules and pointed out how much of a cheater Bert's car was, Glenn bought a share of the track so he could get his own way. Glenn ignored the track when Bert finished school and was called up by the army.BR2-14
