John Mansfield was the older son of dairy farmer Glenn Mansfield. Even though he was a big, dumb jock who mostly only knew how to run straight ahead and had a reputation for fumbles John expectd to be starting quarterback when he was a senior at Bradford High School, but coach Ed Snyder benched him in favor of Mike Granbury.
Sometime after graduatin he was drafted.BR2-7
