Betty Warren was Dr. Herman Luce's receptionist, office manager and bookkeeper.

Around 2009 she was working as Dr. Luce's "bookkeeper or business assistant or whatever she was". She was almost as old as Dr. Luce, and didn't use computers or the Internet.^HP4

Betty did not do a good job of billing the insurance companies and after she took it over Dr. York wanted to revamp the business side of Dr. Luce's practice.

Dr. Gene Metarie suggested:^HP8

... that about the first thing we’d do ... would be to have Laura Hutchison go through Betty’s old work and resubmit outstanding claims or ones with problems. As slow as insurance companies are it’d take a while to show a return, but if things are as bad as I suspect they are there ought to be some big checks or electronic transfers coming in within sixty to ninety days.

Later Betty quits — on the same morning that Dr. Tricia York officially took over the practice.^HP11

Betty obviously didn't like change.
