Summary
Judith initially turns down Ken's invitation to the prom, but he persists. When he says he doesn't know how to dance, she bemoans the fact that she can't dance, but Ken persuades her, telling her that they both can learn from scratch; which they do with the help of her physical therapist.
On prom night, Judith is beautiful in her dress. Ken wangles the loan of a Cadillac to drive to the prom, and on the way, she says "Why don't you call me Judy?". Ken says "I like that!" and from here on out she is Judy to everyone except her mother. They were able to dance all of the slow ballroom dances, and had plenty of time to sit and talk during the other dance numbers. She mentions that she is envious of Candy Howard, who rides horses, and Ken tells her that she can come out to the farm and ride Candybar, an old and gentle horse.
After the prom, they join their classmates for pizza, and end up sharing a goodnight kiss and agreeing to have another date.
