Summary
Mark and Jackie independently discover that they are beginning to have strong feelings for the other.
On Sunday Mark walks to town to get water and some supplies including a book which they start reading and discussing.
Monday it's Jackie's turn to hike to town; she stops at a Dr.'s office and gets a prescription for birth control pills 'just in case'. She buys the pills, a bathing suit and some beer, and is about to hike back when she meets Roger and Kathy Griswold, from Arvada Center (near Spearfish Lake), who give her a ride back to the beach and decide to camp nearby. They are on their honeymoon to watch the launch, however they have to head back to their farm as soon as it's over.
By the end of the chapter Mark and Jackie have admitted to each other that they are falling in love.
