Nick Steward was the president of the student council at Southern Michigan University. He got the Activities Day tables moved into the Community Services Centre because of the rainy day.
He was the first to inform Mark Thompson and Susan McMahon about the shooting when he asked for another Activities Day date. He suggested Dr. Thompson make a statement to the news crews,SLH31 and offered to handle phone calls to the college.SLH32
