Mike Johansen was a Spearfish Lake resident contemporary with Gil Evachevski and Roger Augsberg. He played quarterback on the Marlins football team in the late 1940s and early 1950s.^WTLC3

In 1975 he was Mayor Pro Tem and chaired the council meeting which refused to pay for the cleanup after the Chili Festivval.^WTLC37

He came second in the 17th Annual Spearfish Lake City Golf Tournament on 3rd June 1975.^WTLC47
