Larry McDermott was a Mechanical Engineering professor at Georgia Tech. He had both Jon Chladek and Tanisha Blythe in several classes including Stress Analysis at 8am, 3 days a week during the Spring 1997 semester.
In the following summer he helps them get a paid summer internship with Lambdatron, much as he had with a previous student of his, Jim Geletzke. The professor had realized that "Griz" was more than just an athlete and recruited him.AT07
Dr. McDermott was described as "balding". Among students he had a "reputation as a hard-nosed bastard" but fair.
