Don Kohler was a reporter for the Geneva Daily Post Gazette during the time frame of The Next Generation (1983).
He is the reporter that got the story of Judy Niven saving Chet Sorensen's life.TNG4
Further on in the same book he reported Judy transporting Lydia Sorensen and a heavily pregnant Lori Watson to the hospital using the farm tractor when the snow is too deep for any car and the ambulance is busy on the far side of the county. On the way they have to pull multiple cars out of snowdrifts. Lori gives birth to her second child, Amanda.TNG16
