Carolyn Sorensen was the wife of Tom Sorensen in The Next Generation.

Tom married Carolyn some time before 1983. She was a city girl, who worked as a pharmacist in Geneva, and was described as "scatter-brained" and "heavy-set, with dark hair".^TNG5 She dislikes farm life and Ken Sorensen believes that Tom made a big mistake in marrying her.^TNG8 Still, when her brother-in-law Ken married Judy Niven, her family contributed to "fitting things out" and helping to furnish their first home.^TNG10

After Tom's death, Carolyn moved back in with her family.^TNG12 Despite Tom predeceasing his father, Carolyn still sues for a share of the farm after Chet Sorensen's death.^TNG15 This lawsuit is a major issue in the last fifth of the book The Next Generation. In the end, she lost the lawsuit.
