Summary
In April Matt and Mary returned to Copenhagen to get the Mary Sue ready to be put back into the water They discussed their plans with Knud at the boatyard and he gave them good advice.
First they sailed the Baltic to Stockholm, Sweden and Helsinki, Finland before heading to the Netherlands and entering the European canal system at the beginning of June, after getting the mast of the Mary Sue taken down to ensure clearance wherever they went.
Matt met Amanda Lewis in Amsterdam for her trip with them and took three weeks to get to Paris for a few days before taking Amanda to the airport for her return to Winchester Harbor.
With three months on the canals behind them Matt and Mary agreed to head steadily to the Mediterranean where they enjoyed open water sailing again. In early December they were on the Greek Island of Crete when they decided they wanted to be moving on.
After briefly discussing passage of the Suez Canal they decided to head west knowing the next few months were the best time to go from Gibraltar to the Canriy Islands and across the Atlantic to the Caribbean.
Following a stop in Gibraltar to work on the Mary Sue and stock up they left in late January and arrived in Antigua on April 6, a year since they flew out of Gander, Newfoundland.
