Andy Roney is a boatman with Canyon Tours. He had been a swamper before, but Al Buck's wedding trip in April 2001 is his first trip as a full boatman.

Sockdolager, one of the larger rapids, although not as tough as Hance, Crystal or Lava, got Andy on that trip. "Andy, with Myleigh and Trey, and worst of all, with Al in his boat, got a little too far over an eddy line, bounced the side tube off of one of the river right rocks along shore, spun the other way around, and took another hit from a shoreline rock on the nose of the boat -- fortunately not a hard one. They bounced off and got spit out the bottom backwards, not any worse for wear but wet and relieved, with Andy mostly waiting for the ass chewing he expected from Al."^CF15

Andy, Barbie Tompkins and Duane MacRae hiked out with Scooter at Bass Trail after the wedding.

In 2002 Andy moved to Grand Canyon Rafters in the switch-around when Canyon Tours took over six oar-boat trips from GCR. He ran motor trips with GCR for two years before leavig GCR and returning to Canyon Tours in 2004. Initially he was an extra boatman available to switch between teams as needed but became a full time member of Duane MacRae's Gold Team when Michelle had to leave the river.

He had graduated from college and was going to grad school for his Masters and PhD and would likely be a summer boatman for six more years. ^INTA5

At the end of the 2004 season and the start of the 2005 season Andy was Assistant Trip Leader to Barbie Tompkins on Gold Team.
