Notes on an idea for a sci-fi post-apocalyptic story which are included in the anthology Bulldog Spirit and Other Short Works.
Tribes are small, some are settled, some are nomadic. Nomads often attack settled tribes killing the men and carrying women off.
There is a city where women are safe at the expense of being chained to the woman-tracks within the city.
Two women survive an attack by nomads and seek shelter in the city. They have to choose safety while chained for the rest of their lives or leaving the city.
