Drive Time: Chadron to Antelope Valley

In a memorable paragraph, Dayna rushes to meet Sandy in "Twenty-two hours, five pit stops -- none of which lasted more than fifteen minutes -- and no sleep later". Out of curiosity, I checked the distance from Chadron, NE to Las Vegas, using Google Maps. And I got 16 hours 1 minute. Now, Antelope Valley is not exactly Las Vegas, and Dayne did take some breaks, but on the other hand she was not holding to speed limit, even driving an RV. So, did she run into heavy traffic? Are some of the roads Google Maps suggests not suitable for RVs? Maybe some roads were not even there in 1995? Still 22 hours seems high.

I just tried Mercury, NV as an approximation of Antelope Valley (that's my closest guess). 17 hours 12 minutes.--Samuelmichaels (talk) 14:27, 23 May 2012 (EST)
