Susan Griffin was the youngest of Cal and Laurie Griffin's children.
She completed her freshman at Michigan Technological University in Houghton but wanted to transfer somewhere nearer home for next year.
When she was home in Bradford for the summer she was almost a big sister to her neice Telzey Amberdon.
Through Telzey Susan got to meet some of the race drivers at Bradford Speedway and developed a particular friendship with Jack Kaufmann. Jack suggested she transfer to Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo where he would be a sophomore next year.
