Shannon Gravengood was the daughter of Larry Gravengood, the brother of Mark Gravengood. Her mother died right after Shannon's birth, and she was raised by Larry and his second wife. She had two daughters, Rebecca and Brianna: if Shannon ever knew who the girls’ fathers were she never told, other than they’re not the same.

Shannon died on May 2nd of 2007, leaving her children in need of foster parents. Mark (their Grand-Uncle) and Jackie (their Grand-Aunt) accepted that role.^SL1

Detective Lieutenant Seymour told Mark Gravengood that she was unconscious and barely breathing when her car went into a river. With no drugs in her system and nothing physically wrong her death was a mystery.^SL14

Shannon's body was buried in the family plot at Spearfish Lake Cemetery, alongside her father's.^SL16 SL19
