Rick Thredford was a self-confessed stereotypical computer nerd who lived to write code, but was bored because his employment didn't give him very much to do but a 'no compete' clause in his contract prevented him leaving to write programs anywhere else.
Isolated and put down by other puplis at school he was very shy and lacking social skills.
His secretary, Sophia Rosenvold, had the idea to arrange a marriage for him hoping a wife could help his social skills and provide an interest away from computers.
After his marriage to Jane Marshall they visited his parents in Wychbold to introduce her. When he recognised Danielle, his main tormenter from school, as the waitress at the diner he and Jane went to for breakfast he wanted to leave but Jane persuaded him to stay and acted up to show how successfull he was.
He was planning to get a Masters and PhD at the company expense under their employee enrichment program.
