Olivia Reimers was for two years the roommate of Myleigh Harris at the Athens University graduate school. She was a militant feminist, black and a lesbian. She would hang up at the sound of a man's voice. Myleigh considered her a man-hating feminazi.

Despite Olivia having a lover named Cynthia in Chicago, she convinced Myleigh to experiment at least once, which convinced Myleigh she was not a lesbian. Olivia also once posed as Myleigh's lover and a dinner with Myleigh's parents. "All it took was one long, deep, passionate kiss between Olivia and myself. When I opened my eyes, my parents were gone, and I have not heard from them since."^AT18

Olivia was one of the few people the Myleigh ever supplied the whole truth of her childhood.^BB34 She also put up with Myleigh's snoring, which is a positive note for her character.
