Mr. Fredenberg (no first name is ever given) is the manager of the Briarwood Mall (a large shopping center), in Hawthorne and one of Dayna Berkshire's first employers. He changes her impromptu concert into a regularly scheduled gig with frequent breaks to get customers back into shops. At Christmas in 1987 he had her dress up as one of Santa's elves and give kiddie concerts.^HT1

In the summer of 1989, Mr. Fredenberg employed both Dayna and Sandy Beach, putting them into the rotation of summer acts.^HT10
