Comic-Con
Comic-Con is a real convention no matter how it's spelled (Comic-Con, Comic Con, ComicCon or ComiCon).
The main web site is at www.comic-con.org and mentions the conventions in detail.
The Wikipedia writeup is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comic-Con and mentions the local Cons held in nine USA cities, four in Canada, plus London, India, Australia and Egypt, and the main International Con held annually in San Diego in July. Click for photos
It's a crazy weekend and you see some strange things... where else would you find a Star Wars stormtrooper, She-Hulk, Batman, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman, Iron Man and The Joker debating the technical accuracy of a reproduction of Doctor Who's Tardis?
And then later on, Captain America discussing costume materials with Princess Leia, Spiderman, The Flash, Superman, Dorothy and Chewbacca?
Or the The Green Hornet discussing police procedures with Columbo?
Or Snow White discussing hair styles and products with Princess Leia?
Or a 10-year-old arguing with the Power Rangers (all 6 of them) about contradictions and goofs in their TV series?
Trust me, it's worth attending at least one International Comic Con in your life.. Please check all edged and projectile weapons at the door...
Bonnie Smith and Bill Simpson in Cattail attended Comic-Con in Cleveland in 2006.
