Kirk Wise was interim pastor of the Spearfish Lake First Baptist Church for six weeks in August 1975.

He gave a talk to the Spearfish Lake Woman's Club entitled "The New Immorality",^WTLC9 and expanded it for his sermon the folllowing Sunday. That tipped the balance against him and the church board gave him his marching orders that same day.^WTLC27
