Alton Tennant was a long time fixture in Bradford, despite being retired. He was running for city council at his death. Despite being deceased, he still drew 115 of the 540 votes. As Emily Holst thought of it, "either that many voters didn't realize he was dead, or cast votes for him out of respect or habit."HS6
Conversations with Leonard Pikkala imply Alton had been on the council in years past, but it would not have been his primary occupation, which is never given.
