Summary

Bud is at Rick's waiting for a steak when Ballard's call of trouble with the switcher comes in. He concludes they'll have to return and try with the Rock, despite not having dried out yet. The Coldwater Fire Department has arrived and Bud orders the loading to begin.

Fred moves the Hoseltine department and still needs more fire fighters. He's afraid he'll need to retreat again. Don's bulldozer helps protect gas pumps with piled snow.

The newly combined train leaves Spearfish Lake at 1 a.m. with the Camden and Coldwater departments that Warsaw needs so badly. The Baldwin steam engine is actually running better than before.

Steve and the SX-3217 makes contact by VHF. They explain how the rotary died and that they'll need to retreat. Bud doesn't want to give up with them so close. He knocks out a strategy of an army of non-fire fighters with snow shovels to help clear Grant's Cut. They gather four busloads of shovelers at 4 a.m. and moved out. John Penny on snowmobile makes advanced contact and gives Steve a ride back. Steve has bad news to tell Bill about his daughter.

With effort from the army of snow shovelers and the Rock and Baldwin, they finally break through and clear the path for the relief train.
