Summary

Dave and Shae have to put off telling his boys about their plan to marry when Shae finds she can't visit Bradford--she has to go to her great-great aunt's funeral. Dave's quiet afternoon of watching television is interrupted with a news bulletin of attempted hijacking of an airplane from Mexico City, and then soon afterward the role of Jennlynn in preventing it; the events previously covered in other books.^MC31GT1

The excitement of events and impact on the Class of 1988 and entire town of Bradford is dimmed when Dave finds that Lloyd, the editor of the local paper experienced a dangerous heart attack.

Emily and Hazel try to put out the next issue of the Bradford Courier together, and Emily calls Dave for help. All of them are struggling, but Dave pitches in. He calls Shae to try to find a recent photo of Jennlynn, and during the call reveals to Emily the intimacy of their relationship. He asks Emily not to spread it around yet.
