Lieutenant Colonel Bruce Hadley is a senior captain for Southern Airlines and a reserved officer in the Air Force. He was on-base at Keesler AFB when word came of the nearby hijacking of flight 111 when the flight crew was wounded. He was the one that talked Jennlynn Swift and Jeff Waldemer through the landing.^MC31 His voice is heard on the TV telecast of events.^PUTP34

Col. Hadley had flown a Southern Airbus 300 many times, including SA111. He personally knew the wounded pilot Phil Specter and his copilot. He told his side of the story, the approach and landing phase especially, to the press before those so recently on the airplane were ready.^MC32
