Moffatt is a small town north of Camden, at the south end of Thunder Lake. The C&SL line that runs from Camden to Spearfish Lake runs through Moffatt, and is one of the places that the steam engine has to pass in Snowplow Extra.

Moffatt has a community college where Rod Turpin takes his GED preparation classes.^DW63. Binky Augsberg spent two years there as did Kirsten Langenderfer. Neither finished with a degree as their each found a part-time job that turned into something bigger. Worthing College also holds extension courses in Moffatt.

Moffatt Eastern is a school that Spearfish Lake High School plays against. They were the season finale for the Spearfish Lake football team in their 1997 season when the Marlins went 2-7.^AC14 The Lady Marlins Girls Basketball were to play Moffatt Eastern for the 2000 district finals.^FtS41
