Frosty Freeze is a nation-wide chain of ice cream stores, one of which was(is?) in Spearfish Lake. The town lacked a real fast-food place, but besides soft ice cream, the Frostee Freeze had added a short fast food menu. "It was an old fashioned drive-in that had seen better days, but it had picnic tables sitting around outside; it was a popular hangout for the Spearfish Lake kids, and the obvious place to head when you needed a quick supper."DW20
It was a particular favorite of Josh Archer, Danny Evachevski, and Amy and Marsha Ashenfelter in the summer of 1987. Pam Appleton was another patron that summer, getting a drink after looking for Gibson's Water Snake in the sewers.
Randy Clark found it a suitable place for a quick burger and fries after working at Clark Construction. It was where he met Nicole Szczerowski for the first time in two years after breaking up in High School.
