Summary
Another two days are spent excavating the site, storing the remains in an artifact box. They then decide to go home. The plan is to try and just walk on the plane with the box, and hope no-one asks about it, rather than to try and deal with officialdom. Since there are no customs checks, this works. When the plane lands in Manila, they contact the American Embassy to tell them what has happened. They fly as planned on to Hawaii, though they have a military escort, and the box has it's own seat. An honor guard is there to take them to the identification center, where formal identification would take place. Whilst the army debrief Rod Matson, Mike is able to ring Spearfish Lake, and dictate a short story for the Record-Herald announcing the discovery of the remains.
