Mel Willoughby is the (off-screen) brother of Tim Willoughby, Dayna Berkshire's busking mentor. He runs a small insurance agency in Hawthorne, Michigan.
He employs his nephews, Jim and Jerry Willoughby, in the summers of their college years. They both expect to work there after graduation.
