Lieutenant Colonel Bruce Hadley is a senior captain for Suthern Airlines and a reserved officer in the Air Force. He was on-base at Keesler AFB when word came of the nearby hijacking with the flight crew wounded. He was the one that talked Jennlynn Swift and Jeff Waldemer through the landing.^MC31

Col. Hadley had flown a Southern Airbus 300 many times, including SA111. He personally knew the wounded Phil Specter and his copilot. He told his side of the story, the approach and landing phase especially, to the press before those so recently on the airplane were ready.^MC32
