Glenn Mackey was a Spearfish Lake Vietnam vet. He served at Con Thien and Khe Sanh without a scratch, only to be killed in June 1978 while mowing his lawn when a drunk driver ran off the road. He had been married to Janet Mackey and at the time of his death, they had two children, ages five and seven. Janet was unable to cope with the funeral arrangements.

Glenn had been killed by a member of a veteran's Post and the other area Vietnam vets refused the usual Post honor guard for his funeral, providing it themselves much as they had for Henry Toivo. His death sparked the creation of the Henry Toivo Post in Spearfish Lake.
