Tara Evachevski is the youngest daughter of Gil Evachevski and Carrie Matson. She has 3 older siblings, Jennifer, Garth, and Brandy and a younger brother, Daniel. Tara was born in March 1968 at Fort Bragg, NC, where her father was stationed at the time.

Compared to her siblings, Gil thinks of Tara as his "intense, shy, bookish, artistic daughter". She was not athletic like Brandy and Danny, and instead earned academic scholarships and paid for college with a series of jobs. One of those jobs was as a camp counseler at the same girl scout camp in southern Michigan as Nicole Szczerowski, better known as Mosquito Valley.

Tara had romantic troubles with many boyfriends her sister Jennifer unhesitatingly called jerks, including one that she married. Her marriage to someone named Roger ended in divorce. She then was distant to her family, who assumed it was from embarassment. It was in a way because that was when she admitted to herself she was a lesbian. It took time to overcome her fears to confess, first to her sisters and then her parents. Her family was very supportive.

Tara stood as bridesmaid to her sister Brandy at her wedding to Phil Wine in 2000. She was described at that time as "wearing a short black skirt and sweater, but otherwise had a distinctly new-age appearance about her, underlined by the butch cut of her black hair and a number of piercings in her ears and nose -- and, Candice suspected, elsewhere as well."^FtS15 She also wore huge earrings that jingled.

Tara lives in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St Paul) ^SQ17 with her girlfriend Sylvia.
