Summary
Dave investigates the school in Bradford, and gets an offer of an apartment for rent, right across his mother's house. He is leaning more and more towards coming to Bradford for a while.
He, Shae and many others attend the 9/11 benefit concert organized by Emily. The concert is a success with emotional shows of support, and excellent music by Michigan Hillbillies, Sanda and Dayna, and the headliners Cold Spring Rain.
Later that night, Shae asks Dave to live with her; she is lonely and would like him as a friend and possibly more, she is also very fond of his boys. He tells her that it's just too soon after Julie's death, but he leaves the possibility open that it will happen. They sleep together, to have somebody to hold.
