Summary
Scooter & Dallas get back to find Dan, Randy & Sam organising the meal. Crystal, Al and Karin are absent and don't return until the meal is ready. Al tells Georgie White & Louise Buck stories at the campfire - Scooter sees body language between Karin & Crystal that indicates that there's been a reconciliation. Scooter settles down with a cigar to try and decide what she wants to do about Dallas,
Scooter heads for her raft, and tells Crystal "The way you looked around the fire it looks like you patched it up with your mom some."
"Oh, yes," Crystal replied in a mellow tone. "I still can't believe it's really true, but it has to be, unless this is a dream or something." She won't give Scooter any more details at this time, but promises to tell her later. She then asks for a cigar, but Scooter refuses because she thinks it would make Crystal sick.
A few days later, Scooter decided to take the harder route (the "bubble line") for her raft at Lava rapids, and is followed by Randy in the gear boat.(compare Dawnwalker Chapter 71).
