Norman Nivan is Judith (Judy) Nivan's father. In 1999 he is working at the Farm Center in Arvada Center. He (unlike his wife Irene) encourages his daughter to do as much as she thinks she is able to do.

Sometime after Judy marries Ken Sorenson, he leaves his wife and retreats to a life as a hermit in a hunter's cabin on the far side of Turtle Hill, outside of Spearfish Lake. At somepoint he meets up with Josh and Tiffany and he ends up leading some of their adventure tours.
