Chet, wife Lydia, sons Tom and Ken. A farmer living near Arvada Center, he intends that the family farm should go to Tom, however Tom's death in an accident means that Ken has to take over. Chet is concerned when Ken takes up with Judy Niven as she was crippled in a road accident, The Sorensen's Uncle Ed had been crippled in the Vietnam war and had spent the rest of his life complaining about it. However, when Judy rescued Chet from a piece of farm machinery, he changed his mind. Chet dies from a heart attack, though it turned out that he had advanced cancer, so would not have lived long anyway.
